Living above the sun isn’t primarily a theory to master or a set of principles to memorize and apply correctly. It’s closer to a river to remain in — something you stay present to, again and again, rather than something you figure out once and then carry around as settled knowledge.
That distinction matters on the mornings when nothing feels particularly resolved. Some days don’t call for a fresh insight or a new spiritual technique. They call for simply staying at the water — returning to the same source, the same presence, without needing to extract something new from it every time.
The river John describes flows from the throne, continuously, life-giving, always available rather than periodically accessed. It isn’t a resource you draw from occasionally when the need is acute. It’s an environment to live inside of, the way a fish lives inside water rather than visiting it for hydration.
If today feels like it doesn’t require an answer to a problem or a new understanding of something — that’s not a wasted day. Some mornings the entire invitation is simply to remain at the water a little longer than usual, letting presence be enough without needing it to produce something else first.
Prayer
Lord, today I don’t need a new insight or a resolved problem. I simply want to remain at the river of Your presence a little longer. Thank You that You are not a resource I visit occasionally, but a life I’m invited to remain in continuously. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
Above the sun is a river to remain in, not a theory to master. Today I choose to stay at the water.
