“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus.”
Hebrews 10:19
There’s a quiet pressure that can settle onto anyone who loves a family well — the sense that provision for everyone, in every sense, ultimately depends on them. Not just financial provision. Emotional steadiness. Wisdom for every problem. The safety net beneath every crisis, personally supplied.
That pressure often comes from a genuinely good place — real love, real responsibility, a real desire to see the people you care about lack nothing. But it quietly assumes a role that was never actually assigned: source, rather than steward.
Hebrews describes direct access to God through Christ — confidence to enter the holy places, not through an intermediary who has to manage the connection, but directly, personally, for everyone. That access isn’t routed through any one family member’s strength or resourcefulness. It’s already open.
You were never meant to be the source of provision for everyone you love — only a steward of what passes through you. Laying down the pressure of being the source isn’t giving up on the people you’re responsible for. It’s finally believing that they have the same direct access to the actual Source that you do, and releasing yourself from a weight that was never yours to carry alone.
Prayer
Father, forgive me for the times I’ve quietly tried to be the source for the people I love, instead of a steward pointing them to You. Thank You that they have the same direct access to You that I do. Release me from carrying a weight that was never mine to carry alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
I am a steward of provision for those I love, not the source of it. I release the pressure of being what only God can be.
