“I will give you the treasures of darkness and hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.”
Isaiah 45:3
Some things get forbidden not because they’re dangerous, but because someone else wanted control over who could access them. A system decides what’s permitted and what isn’t, and after enough time, people stop asking whether the rule was ever actually true. They just accept the fence.
Isaiah’s word to Cyrus names something worth sitting with. Treasures of darkness. Hoards in secret places. Not cursed things. Hidden things. God had been safeguarding them the whole time, waiting for the right person to walk in and claim what was already His to give.
It’s worth asking what’s been labeled off limits in a life that might actually be exactly what God has been keeping safe. A calling that felt too big to name out loud. A gift that got dismissed early on and never picked back up. A place, a relationship, a piece of identity that the world’s systems declared forbidden for reasons that had nothing to do with God’s actual intention.
What’s forbidden by the world’s systems is sometimes exactly what Heaven has been safeguarding. The treasure kept in darkness was never cursed. It was simply waiting for someone willing to walk toward it, called by name, rather than staying behind the fence someone else built.
Prayer
Father, show me what’s been labeled off limits in my life that You’ve actually been keeping safe for me. Give me courage to walk toward the treasure You’ve hidden rather than staying behind a fence someone else built. I trust that You call me by name and know exactly what You’ve kept for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
What’s forbidden by the world is sometimes exactly what Heaven has been safeguarding for me. I walk toward it, called by name.
