There’s a particular kind of exhaustion that shows up not at the beginning of a hard season, but somewhere deep in the middle of it — the point where the initial resolve has worn thin, the encouragement from others has started to feel repetitive, and the honest thought crossing the mind is simply: I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this.
That point, uncomfortable as it is, tends to be exactly where something shifts. Not because willpower finally kicks in. Because the moment you think you cannot go on is often precisely where divine empowerment meets you — not before, when you still felt capable of managing on your own strength.
Peter’s language is worth sitting with: ransomed. Purchased. Bought back at a real cost, not left to fend for itself once the transaction was complete. What was purchased for you was never meant to leave you stranded in the empty places — the exhausted middle of a long season, the place where your own resources have genuinely run dry.
If that’s where you are right now — not at the start, full of resolve, but somewhere in the depleted middle — this is worth hearing plainly: the depletion is not disqualifying. It may be exactly the place empowerment was always going to meet you, because it was never going to be found anywhere else.
Prayer
Father, I am tired in a way that isn’t easily fixed by rest alone. I bring You the exhausted middle of this season, the place where my own strength has run out. Meet me here, not because I’ve earned it, but because I was ransomed at a cost I could never repay. Empower what I cannot sustain on my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
The moment I think I cannot go on is exactly where divine empowerment meets me. I was not purchased to be stranded in the empty places.
