Day 3: The Pit — Hidden But Not Forgotten

“And they took him and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it.”
Genesis 37:24

There is something sacred about the pit.

It’s not glamorous. It’s not public. It’s not celebrated.
But it’s there — in the silence, in the shadows — that the real work of God begins.

Before the palace ever knew Joseph’s name, the pit knew his tears.

Hiddenness Is Not Abandonment

Being hidden feels like being forgotten.
But it’s not.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast…? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”
Isaiah 49:15–16

God doesn’t hide people He’s done with.
He hides people He’s preparing.
He doesn’t bury sons. He plants them.

The pit is proof that your life is not your own. It’s not punishment — it’s preparation.

The Pit is a Place of Re-identification

When Joseph’s brothers threw him into the pit, they were stripping him of his coat.
But they could never strip him of his calling.

“You are my servant, I have chosen you and have not rejected you.”
Isaiah 41:9

In the pit, Joseph learned that favor isn’t about fabric — it’s about the Father.

This is where your own “Joseph anointing” begins to form:
When what defined you is taken from you, and you realize that what truly defines you can never be lost.

You’re Not Stuck — You’re Strategically Positioned

Sometimes, your deepest pain is actually your launchpad.
Joseph’s pit wasn’t a detour — it was a divine doorway.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock…”
Psalm 40:2

God is still sovereign in silence. Still working in the wait.

And even now, the same God who watched over Joseph in the pit is watching over you.

✨ Declaration

I am not forgotten. I am hidden on purpose.
God is working in what I cannot see.
Even in the pit, I am known, called, and marked for greatness.
The silence will not break me — it will build me.
I will come out refined, not reduced.
In Jesus’ name, I rise again.

🙏 Devotional Prayer

Father, when I can’t feel You, I choose to trust You.
When I feel forgotten, I remember Your Word.
Thank You that You’re just as present in the pit as You are in the palace.
Refine my identity in this hidden place.
Anchor me in Your truth.
Let this pit become an altar where I surrender again.
I may not see the way out, but I believe You’re already lifting me up.
I am Yours. Amen.

“Jesus breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” (John 20:22)

Breathing requires both inhaling and exhaling. The Spirit-filled life is the same — we inhale His presence, and we exhale His forgiveness.

In a culture quick to divide and slow to forgive, the Spirit is calling us to breathe again.

    Inhale His Spirit.

    Exhale His forgiveness.

    Stay unoffended.

    Live in truth.

The breath of God is not only filling us — it’s freeing us.
